Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to the Bahrain Diabetes Conference and the Global Diabetic Foot Course 2025. This inaugural event underscores our commitment to improving diabetes care and preventing its complications with focus on diabetic foot complications.

The leaps we are witnessing in the healthcare in Bahrain, supported by the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa inspire us to continue our efforts to improve the knowledge of health care professionals to optimize the detection of early signs of diabetes complications and prevent them and manage them timely and up to the current standards of care.

This conference and course expericece serves as a key platform for Continuing Professional Development (CPD), emphasizing comprehensive diabetes care and patients education. Since its foundation in 1989, the Bahrain Diabetes Society has focused on diabetes education and enhancing healthcare structures. Our partnership with the Gulf Diabetic Foot Working Group will advance both local and regional healthcare especially with the launch of the latest regional guidelines for diabetic foot during this conference.

In response to the current rate of diabetes prevalence, the conference prioritizes effective prevention and management strategies. Sessions will address diabetes care for all healthcare professionals and will be enriched with hands on workshops on diabetic foot care.

I appreciate the efforts of the organizing committee, all our experts speakers and our attendees who take the time and effort to improve their skills and knowledge. I wish you a rewarding educational experience during the conference and the course as we work to improve healthcare for those living with diabetes.

Your's Sincerely

Lieutenant General Doctor Sheikh Mohamed Bin Abdullah Al-Khalifa
