Dr. Naji Alamuddin is a consultant endocrinologist, diabetologist, and obesity specialist at King Hamad University Hospital, Acting Head of Internal Medicine Department, Associate Professor in Medicine and Deputy Head of School of Medicine at RCSI Bahrain, and Adjunct Associate Professor at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.
He received his medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, a Master’s in Translational Research from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Master of Education for Health Professionals from Johns Hopkins University. He completed his internal medicine residency at Pennsylvania Hospital and a fellowship in diabetes, endocrinology, and metabolism at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He then joined the faculty of the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania as an assistant professor in medicine. He is currently enrolled in a Global Executive MBA at INSEAD.
Dr. Alamuddin is board certified in internal medicine, endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism, and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine. He serves on the maintenance of certification committee for the American Board of Obesity Medicine.
His research focuses on the treatment of obesity, involving behavioral, pharmacological, and surgical approaches. He is primarily interested in understanding metabolic changes associated with weight loss and bariatric surgery. Dr. Alamuddin has led complex mechanistic human studies from conception to implementation and has extensive research experience in lipid metabolism and obesity. He was previously awarded an NIH K12 Mentored Clinical Scientist Development Program award and has published in high-impact journals including the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Circulation, Journal of Clinical Investigation, Obesity, and Obesity Surgery.
Dr. Mohamed Hatem had bachelor degree in medicine (MD) from Royal college of surgeons in Ireland 2007, did my internship at James Connolly Memorial Hospital Ireland, join Bahrain defence force hospital at 2008 and for 2 year did rotation at neurosurgery ,urology ,general surgery and vascular surgery prior starting my Saudi board of general surgery from 2010-2015 .
I completed my fellowship program of diabetic foot surgery at (clinical universitaria de podologia ) Madrid, Spain 2018 which trained under Professor Jose Luis Lazaro Martinez .I established diabetic foot clinic at Bahrain defence hospital and I trained number of nurse about wound care and change the strategies of diabetic foot care at my hospital by establishing multidisciplinary team approach to provide bet care diabetic foot patient .
Dr. Alzaben is a dedicated surgeon with over a decade of clinical and surgical experience, currently serving as a Hyperbaric and Wound Care Specialist at Awali Hospital, Bahrain. she previously spent ten years as a Senior Registrar in General Surgery at the same institution, where he developed a strong foundation in acute and operative care.
She holds a Master of Hyperbaric medicine degree from Stellenbosch University, South Africa. In pursuit of advanced training in chronic wound management, he completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Wound Care through the University of Toronto, Canada. Her subspecialty in diving and hyperbaric medicine includes a DMAC Level 1 certification from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd), accredited at Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) Level 11, and a DMAC Level 2 qualification from the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS), USA.
Beyond her clinical responsibilities, Dr. Alzaben currently holds the position of Procurement Manager at Awali Hospital. In this role, she has been instrumental over the past year in optimising procurement operations to support both clinical efficiency and financial sustainability.
Dr. Alzaben combines her surgical insight, wound care expertise, hyperbaric and diving knowledge with operational leadership—driving forward improvements in patient outcomes and hospital performance.
Maha Abdulla Behzad holds a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with a specialization in Diabetes Education. She currently serves as a specialized nurse in the Diabetes Clinic within Primary Health Care Centers in Bahrain.
With over a decade of hands-on experience in diabetes management, patient education, and chronic disease prevention, Ms. Behzad plays a vital role in delivering high-quality care and empowering patients to take charge of their health. Her professional interests include public health awareness, organizing educational campaigns, and contributing to community health initiatives.
She is also actively engaged in health-related conferences and volunteer work, demonstrating a strong commitment to professional development and healthcare advancement in the region.
Maryam Maher Mohamed holds a BSc (Hons) in podiatry from University of Brighton in 2022, she Joined the royal medical services (Bahrain Defence force hospital) the same year. She is specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of the foot and ankle condition. She is committed to improve mobility, relieving pain and providing foot wound management. Currently Works across orthopedic clinic, surgical clinic, and dermatology clinic, where she applied her skills to deliver comprehensive podiatric care.
Ms. Nayla Aldoseri is a podiatrist working at King Hamad University Hospital (KHUH). In 2018, Ms. Nayla graduated from Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, UK with a BSc. Hons in Podiatry and immediately began her journey as a podiatrist at King Hamad University Hospital (KHUH).
Throughout her working journey, she attended many conferences abroad which were a topic of interest to her regarding diabetic foot. She presented as a speaker in 2024 in a Charcot arthropathy Journal Club presenting the effectiveness and different types of offloading on a diabetic foot.
After working in a Hyperbaric and Wound care unit, she combined both the knowledge received at the clinical placement during her studies and the detailed wound management learnt within working with her colleagues at the department.
Dr. Chaitanya Kodange is a distinguished medical professional and a graduate of the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune. He began his career in the Indian Navy, where he served with distinction as a Submarine Medical Officer. During his tenure, he also qualified as a Ships Diver Officer and Skydiver.
In 2000, Dr. Kodange completed his post-graduation in Marine Medicine—specializing in Diving & Hyperbaric Medicine, Submarine, and Shipboard Medicine—and subsequently served for six years at the Indian Naval Diving School in Kochi. He led medical departments at key submarine bases and went on to earn an MD in Psychiatry from AFMC, Pune. He later served as Associate Professor in both Marine Medicine and Psychiatry at the Institute of Naval Medicine, INHS Asvini, Mumbai.
Dr. Kodange further advanced his expertise by completing the International Interprofessional Wound Care Course (IIWCC) from the University of Toronto (Faculty of Medicine) in Abu Dhabi, qualifying as a Wound Care Specialist.
After taking premature retirement from the Indian Navy in 2017, he joined King Hamad University Hospital, Bahrain, where he currently serves as Consultant in Diving & Hyperbaric Medicine and Wound Care.
Under his leadership, the Hyperbaric Unit at KHUH earned international accreditation from the South African Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Association (SAUHMA) and was designated a Center of Excellence in the Middle East. The unit was further recognized as a “Centre of Wound Care Excellence in the Gulf Region” at the World Union of Wound Healing Societies (WUWHS) Conference in Abu Dhabi (2022) and received the Journal of Wound Care (JWC) award as the “Clinical Centre of Excellence in Wound Care in the Middle East.”
Dr. Kodange is an accomplished researcher, authoring numerous scientific papers and contributing chapters to textbooks. He is a sought-after speaker and has presented extensively at international conferences. He is also one of the few international medical referees for the UK Diving Medical Committee (UKDMC).
Dr. Abdulla Mohamed is a general surgery , diabetic foot and wound care consultant. He is currently an assistant professor of surgery in the department of surgery, College of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Arabian Gulf University - Kingdom of Bahrain. He is a medical graduate of the Arabian Gulf University who has obtained his degree in general surgery in 2019 through Saudi Commission for Health Specialties. He has obtained his membership with the Royal college of surgeon in Ireland in 2016 (MRCS). He finished a fellowship in Vascular and diabetic foot surgery in Imperial college London.2023. Currently, he recently obtained a Master’s degree in medical education-surgical education from Imperial college London. He is a member in Bahrain medical society, International Association for Medical Education and the international Association of Diabetic Foot Surgeons.
Dr. Abdulrahman Abdulaziz Bucheery is a Bahraini physician specializing in general surgery and chronic wound management and is currently the Head of Military Medical Commissions at the Ministry of Interior in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He also represents the Ministry in the Overseas treatment Committee in the Supreme Council of Health.
Dr. Abdulrahman Bucheery is one of Bahrain's leading medical professionals, combining clinical and administrative expertise and actively contributing to the development of the Kingdom's healthcare sector.
Ms. Eman Al-Jahmi serves as the Assistant Director of Nursing for Outpatient Services, Hyperbaric, and Staff Health at King Hamad University Hospital (KHUH). She also holds the role of Nurse Manager of the Hyperbaric and Wound Care Department, where she has led specialized clinical programs with excellence and innovation.
Ms. Al-Jahmi brings over 13 years of diverse clinical and leadership experience, specializing in hyperbaric oxygen therapy, advanced wound care, and stoma management. She holds a Master of Science in Nursing (2018) from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland – Bahrain (RCSI), where she also earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (2010).
Her clinical credentials are both national and international in scope. In 2012, she received certification in Monoplace Chamber Operation and Hyperbaric Medicine from the South African Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Association (SAUHMA) and Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine from DNA-SA. She further expanded her expertise in Multiplace Chamber Operations through IHC Hytech, Netherlands, in 2014. That same year, she completed the International Inter-Professional Wound Care Course (IIWCC) from South Africa. In 2016, she obtained her Ostomy Management Certification (OMCC) in Abu Dhabi.
Ms. Al-Jahmi has been instrumental in the integration of wound care, stoma therapy, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy as hybrid specialty services at KHUH. She led a study on the prevalence of high-risk diabetic foot in the community and continues to collaborate on research projects with other healthcare professionals across disciplines.
Mrs. Aisha Al Mahrizi is a leading Diabetic Foot and Wound Care Specialist with over 20 years of clinical and educational experience in the management of diabetic foot complications and chronic wounds. She began her nursing career after graduating in 1997, and has since specialized in wound care, completing the International Interprofessional Wound Care Course (IIWCC) from the University of Toronto in 2009, and earning her MSc in Skin Integrity Skills and Management from the University of Hertfordshire in 2014.
She is an active member of the Oman Diabetic Foot Committee, Vice President of the Gulf Diabetic Foot Working Group (GDFWG), and the Sultanate of Oman’s representative in the International Working Group on the Diabetic Foot (IWGDF).
Noor Janahi is a Consultant Podiatrist practicing Podiatry in the Kingdom of Bahrain. She is the first Bahraini to achieve this degree and the first Bahraini to practice the profession of Podiatry in the country. Obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Podiatric Medicine from Edinburgh in 2005, followed by Masters in Podiatric Surgery and Doctorate in Diabetic Foot disease from Edinburgh in 2014. Noor's work experience included practical rotations in different hospitals within the United Kingdom as well as working full time as a Senior Podiatrist in Bahrain. She has worked individually to develop the profession of Podiatry in her country, and established the first Podiatry clinic (public and private) in Bahrain. Noor has been focusing on expanding the services of Podiatry to the Middle East region starting from Bahrain and the United Arabs Emirates, in order to provide the best treatments for the Podiatry patients and to further promote and advance the profession within the Middle East.
Dr. Muneera Eissa Ben-Nakhi is a highly accomplished Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and the Head of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Unit at Al-Adan Hospital in Kuwait. With a medical career spanning over two decades, she is recognized as a pioneer in the field of reconstructive microsurgery and super-microsurgery in the Gulf region.
Dr. Ben-Nakhi established the plastic surgery unit at Al-Adan Hospital from the ground up, serving a population of over two million people—nearly half of Kuwait’s population—and managing the country’s highest trauma caseload. She completed advanced surgical fellowships at Asan Medical Center and the University of Ulsan in South Korea, and holds the prestigious title of Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).
